About the Writer

I started this blog about story, faith, and creativity because I'm an avid reader and writer. Reading books from a variety of genres is one of my favorite pastimes since novels can take me on adventures and expose me to other viewpoints.

Ever since taking an undergraduate English course in which the professor discussed how literature can be used to start conversations about the gospel, I have been interested in writing about books and how they relate to biblical themes. Many wonderful stories exist, and I am excited about reflecting on various gospel-centered themes in works of literature on this blog. Also, I hope my writing will encourage other writers and show them that their work can impact others.

My Writing

In addition to working on my first novel, which is a fantasy story, I contribute writing to a variety of sites and publications. I have written for Got Questions and am currently a contributing writer for Salem Web Network. My work is regularly published on Christianity.com, iBelieve, Crosswalk, and Bible Study Tools. Also, my writing has appeared in the devotionals Unlocked and The Secret Place

Educational Background and Literary Interests

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Christian ministry with minors in English, humanities, and children's ministry, as well as a Master of Arts in Ministry. In addition to having an academic background in the Bible and theology, I completed a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing. My culminating thesis focused on fantasy literature and included a part of my current novel in progress.

Although fantasy is my favorite genre, I also enjoy classic fiction, middle-grade books, and Christian devotional literature. Some of my favorite authors include J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, Michael Morpurgo, L . M. Montgomery, Andrew Peterson, Amy Carmichael, and Elisabeth Elliot.

Some Interesting Things About Me

As a follower of Jesus, my relationship with Him is the most important thing in my life. I love spending time with Him each day through Scripture reading and prayer, which is how I grow in my walk with the Lord. I write for His glory since His death and resurrection are the reasons I have hope and life.

When I am not writing, reading, or studying, I am probably collecting more books to read, listening to music, or spending time with my family. If the weather is nice, then you might find me outside planting zinnias or herbs. Gardening is one of my favorite hobbies because it reminds me of my mother, who had a "green thumb."

Keep reading and growing!
